Square-1
Beginner
Square-1 changes shape. First you restore the cube shape, then the colours: corners and edges to their layers, their order and parity.
How to read the moves
(x, y): turn the top layer by x and the bottom one by y steps of 30°. A positive number is clockwise, a negative one counterclockwise (you look at each layer from its own side).
“/” turns the right half of the puzzle by a half turn. You can do it only when the cutting line doesn’t pass through a corner.
- (1, 0)Top by 30° (one edge)
- (0, -1)Bottom by 30° the other way
- (3, 3)Both layers by 90°
- /Right half, half turn
Step-by-step method
1. Cube shape
1 algorithmBoth layers square (cubeshape): corner and edge alternating.
Startscrambled Goalcube shape In colour: solved. Grey: not yet.
- The big pieces are corners (60°), the small ones are edges (30°). First gather the edges together in one layer, then build a square from them and the corners.
- You make the “/” move only when the cutting line doesn’t pass through a corner.
- When both layers are square but the middle band is not, fix it with the algorithm.
- fix the middle band(0, -1) / (6, 0) / (6, 0) / (0, 1)
