Skewb

Layer by layer

Each move turns half of the cube around a corner. Three steps: the first layer, the top corners, the centres.

How to read the moves

Each move turns half of the Skewb around one corner by 1/3 of a turn. WCA notation has four such moves: R, L, U and B.

Without an apostrophe: clockwise, looking at that corner. An apostrophe is a turn the other way.

On the net the coloured pieces are the ones the move shifts, and the animation shows around which corner.

  • RHalf around corner R
  • LHalf around corner L
  • UHalf around corner U
  • BHalf around corner B

Step-by-step method

  1. 1. First layer

    intuitive

The bottom centre and four corners around it in its colour, with matching sides.

In colour: solved. Grey: not yet.

    • Solve one face with corners that also match by their side colours.
    • This step is intuitive: each move turns half of the Skewb around one corner.
    • Keep the solved layer on the bottom.
